light object
light object Sheets is a unique handcrafted porcelain object. The subtle transparency of the porcelain creates remarkable light effects. Light often plays an important role in my work. By playing with light, I aim to evoke a particular mood or emotion. Whether it's about oil paint ,interior design keramiekIn (interior) design, I start with the question where the sun rises and sets. This forms the starting point of my design, as I consider the presence of natural light to be extremely important.

It may not seem obvious, but porcelain has unique properties that make it exceptionally suited to creating light effects. When porcelain is fired at high temperatures, it becomes partially translucent, which gives the material a mysterious and captivating quality. Light passes through the porcelain, creating a new interplay of light. Not only the contrast of light effects, but also the contrast between soft hues and shadows, and the hard material, with the rectangular shapes of the design, adds an intriguing element. Some parts are translucent, while others remain opaque.

For this reason, I created thin layers of porcelain for the light object sheets, which resemble paper. I left gaps between these delicate "paper" layers. These spaces between the porcelain allow light and shadow to play. In the center of the light object, there is a thin copper plate with LED lighting. This causes the porcelain to become more or less translucent, enhancing the play of light and shadow.
rough skin
When the light object is not illuminated, the porcelain appears matte and pebble white, with the rough 'skin' of the object's exterior clearly visible. I made sure to showcase the natural properties of the porcelain by not endlessly refining or smoothing the 'sheets,' but instead, allowing the inherent qualities of the material to shine through. To further highlight the material characteristics of porcelain, the surface has been left unglazed and untreated, preserving its raw, authentic texture
