unique Delft blue pattern .
This handmade platter is made with a unique Delft blue pattern . This collection is inspired by the traditional blue porcelain that once made its way from Asia to Europe. The porcelain was hand-painted with blue decorations. In the Netherlands, attempts were made to replicate this style, but with a distinct local twist. And thus, the iconic Delft Blue pottery was born, featuring scenes such as playing children, windmills, floral patterns, and more. For my Big + Blue series, I developed a unique technique that creates a contemporary, abstract Delft Blue pattern in the pottery.

Because the dish features a distinctive pattern and is quite large (approximately 40 cm in diameter), it becomes a striking focal point in any home. Delft Blue, with its timeless character, fits seamlessly into a variety of interiors. The abstract pattern lends itself well to modern spaces, while the subtle nod to traditional Delft Blue ensures it blends beautifully with more classic, traditional decor as well.
contemporary pattern
Oxide blue pigment is used, which transforms during the firing process into the iconic Delft Blue. Because I apply the oxide blue pigment by hand, a unique pattern emerges on each piece of porcelain. As a result, each item is a one-of-a-kind, standalone object. The pattern is not an image that fades over time, but the porcelain is colored through and through, ensuring lasting beauty.
