Delfts Blue Tableware

es. delft blue tableware

these handmade series Delft blue porcelain This is inspired by the traditional Delft Blue tableware that once traveled from Asia to Europe. Like the original, this porcelain is decorated with traditional motifs, painted using blue oxide pigment that, after firing, forms the distinctive Delft Blue. While I use the same materials as in the past, I incorporate a self-developed technique that creates abstract patterns within the porcelain.

Delft Blue Tableware with a Unique Pattern

The unique pattern on each piece is hand-painted with blue oxide pigment, making every item a one-of-a-kind artwork. The pattern won't fade over time, as the porcelain is coloured through and through.

I enjoy working with porcelain because it has remarkable qualities. Porcelain has a beautiful, pure white color and allows for delicate work—much thinner than with earthenware, which is far more common in the Netherlands. Yet, it is significantly stronger. This allows my designs to be more refined and detailed, enhancing their aesthetic value.

mix + match | your own tableware

Another distinctive feature of porcelain is its bright white color, which allows pigments to truly shine and be beautifully combined. Delft Blue pairs wonderfully with other porcelain, even antique pieces! This offers the opportunity to create your own ideal tableware. For one person, that might mean a base of white porcelain with gold accents, complemented by a few striking Delft Blue pieces. For another, the everyday tableware might consist entirely of Delft Blue porcelain, with the addition of light blue elements.

Delft blue tableware + inscription

an Inscription makes a gift truly special. With an inscription, the ceramic becomes forever connected to the occasion or the person it was made for. This could be initials, an image, a wedding date, or even the date of a birth or anniversary. This personal touch transforms each piece into a cherished keepsake.
